Trump Pardons Capitol Riot Participants
Donald Trump has announced pardons for more than 1,500 individuals involved in the Capitol riot of January 2021, reports NewsBox.
The U.S. President Donald Trump signed an order to pardon over 1,500 participants of the Capitol storming that took place on January 6, 2021. The document states that this decision aims to address what Trump describes as a "serious national injustice" committed in the past four years.
According to the document, members of the far-right groups Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, who were convicted of serious crimes, including sedition, will receive reduced sentences. Other individuals charged with federal offenses related to the events in or around the Capitol are granted full and unconditional pardons.
Attorney Igor Slabykh emphasized that this decision covers not only minor offenses but also more serious charges.
