TikTok Banned in the US
TikTok has completely suspended its operations in the US due to the newly enacted law concerning the ban. Users can no longer access the app, but there are hopes for intervention by Donald Trump, as reported by NewsBox.
TikTok has officially halted its operations in the US. When attempting to open the app, users are greeted with the following message:
«Sorry, TikTok is currently unavailable. A law has been passed in the US prohibiting TikTok. Unfortunately, this means that you cannot use the app at this time. We are hopeful that [the chosen] President Donald Trump will understand that something must be done to allow TikTok to resume operations as soon as he takes office. Please stay with us!»
Meanwhile, users still have access to the login function in the app to upload their personal data.
It is important to note that on January 17, the US Supreme Court upheld the law allowing TikTok to be banned if its owner, the Chinese company ByteDance, does not sell the platform by January 19. Since that date, residents of the US can no longer download or update the app. The decision regarding the complete ban of TikTok has been passed on to the upcoming administration of Donald Trump, as reported by the Associated Press.
At the time of the ban, the TikTok user base in the US exceeded 170 million.
