MrBeast Plans to Buy TikTok to Prevent Its Ban in the U.S.
American YouTuber MrBeast has expressed a desire to purchase TikTok to prevent its ban in the United States, NewsBox reports.
The popular American content creator, whose real name is James Donaldson, announced on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that he is willing to buy TikTok to avoid its blockage in the U.S. His statement sparked widespread reactions, with several billionaires offering their support to help make the deal happen.
The potential purchase stems from a law signed by U.S. President Joe Biden in 2024. Under this law, TikTok must secure an American owner by January 19, 2025, to continue operating in the U.S. Otherwise, the platform faces a ban. Currently, TikTok has 170 million users in the country.
MrBeast is one of the most popular YouTubers, boasting a subscriber base of 340 million. His main channel generates annual revenue of $600–700 million. ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok, is valued at $250 billion in the market.
