‘Insulted the Prophet’: Death Sentence for Iranian Rapper
In Iran, renowned rapper Tataloo (Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo) has been sentenced to death for 'insulting the Prophet Muhammad', reports NewsBox.
An Iranian court has issued the death penalty to the popular rapper Tataloo (real name Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo), accusing him of 'blasphemy' due to statements allegedly offensive to the Prophet Muhammad. The Guardian, citing Iranian media, notes that the case also involved charges of 'promoting prostitution,' 'anti-Iranian propaganda,' and publishing 'indecent content.'
Maghsoudloo, who has been residing in Istanbul since 2018, was detained in December 2023 by Turkish authorities and handed over to Iranian police upon Interpol's request. The artist, who had previously criticized the Iranian regime, unexpectedly supported conservative leader Ebrahim Raisi in the 2017 presidential election.
Tataloo, known for his outspoken stance and provocative lyrics, has drawn government attention on several occasions, but such a harsh punishment has caused widespread resonance.
