Hamas Agrees to Exchange: Three Girls for 90 Palestinians
Hamas has agreed to free three Israeli girls in exchange for 90 Palestinian detainees, as achieved through the mediation of Qatar, Egypt, and the USA, reports NewsBox.
Hamas will release three Israeli girls in exchange for 90 Palestinian detainees. According to the Ynet portal, a list of 90 names has been submitted to the Israeli Prison Authority. The detainees will be transferred to the Ofer prison, located on the western bank of the Jordan River, not far from Ramallah, where they will be met by representatives of the Red Cross. Following the corresponding distribution by the Israeli authorities, they will be released.
Earlier, on January 15, Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani announced that thanks to mediation efforts from Doha, Cairo, and Washington, an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas. It anticipates the release of detainees held in the Gaza Strip and the cessation of hostilities.
According to the first stage of the deal, which lasts for 42 days, Hamas is obliged to release 33 Israeli captives, including military personnel, civilian women, children, elderly people, and the wounded. In return, Israel will free Palestinian detainees from its prisons.
The cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip came into effect on January 19, marking an important step towards de-escalating the conflict.
