Tatyana Moskalkova, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, reported that 517 residents of the Kursk region went missing following the August incursion by Ukrainian armed forces. However, the list presented by Moskalkova contains numerous errors, suggesting that the actual number of missing persons could be even higher, reports NewsBox.

According to Moskalkova, as of August 2024, 517 individuals were reported missing in the Kursk region following the incursion. However, the list she provided raises questions due to numerous inaccuracies and ambiguous entries.

The document includes not only specific names but also vague references such as "boy," "girl," "grandfather," "mother," as well as "acquaintance" and even "citizen of Belarus." One particularly puzzling entry refers to the evacuation of an entire village, Guevo, instead of naming an individual. Additionally, the list includes a man born in 1905, casting doubt on the accuracy and reliability of the data.

Experts and human rights advocates point out that such errors may indicate a larger number of missing persons or issues with record-keeping practices.
