The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has recommended airlines suspend flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and other Russian cities due to the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine, reports NewsBox.

EASA issued a new information bulletin advising international airlines to halt flights to major Russian cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, and Samara.

The agency's recommendations cover Russian airspace west of the 60th meridian east longitude and are aimed at ensuring maximum flight safety amid "Russia's unlawful invasion of Ukraine."

The restrictions apply to air carriers holding an EASA safety authorization and will remain in effect until July 31, 2025. After this date, the recommendations may be reviewed or extended, depending on the situation.

This expansion of the agency's earlier recommendations is linked to increased risks to civil aviation in the region, which have already caused significant changes to the route networks of international airlines.
