Primorsky Region Revokes Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repressions

In the Primorsky region, the rehabilitation of eight individuals, previously recognized as victims of political persecution, has been revoked. It was explained that these individuals allegedly collaborated with the Nazis, as reported by NewsBox.

In the Primorsky region, by order of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, decisions have been rescinded regarding the rehabilitation of these eight individuals, who were previously acknowledged as victims of political repression. According to the regional prosecutor's office, since 2022, a review of more than 9,000 cases related to the rehabilitation of individuals accused of collaborating with the Nazis has been underway.

As a result of the examination of cases of those rehabilitated, 20 instances were found where rehabilitation had been improperly granted. According to the data from the prosecutor’s office, the cases concern individuals believed to have assisted Nazi troops in occupied Soviet territories and other countries during World War II.

Among those whose rehabilitation has been revoked is a woman who had remained in the territory under German occupation and a man who took an oath of allegiance to the Wehrmacht in 1943. After the war, he moved to Vladivostok, where he worked as a truck driver.

The Primorsky prosecutor's office has forwarded the cases of an additional 12 individuals to the General Prosecutor’s Office for further review. Checks of other decisions are ongoing.
