Attempted Assassination of a Saratov Regional Duma Deputy: 16-Year-Old Teenager Targeted Victim with a Hammer
Law enforcement prevented an assassination attempt on Saratov Regional Duma deputy Alexander Yanklovich, which was planned by a 16-year-old teenager allegedly acting under the instructions of handlers reportedly linked to Ukrainian intelligence services, NewsBox reports.
Authorities foiled the attempted attack on Alexander Yanklovich, a Hero of Russia and a deputy of the Saratov Regional Duma. According to SHOT, the suspect, a 16-year-old boy, was believed to have been acting under the guidance of handlers. Investigators are exploring a possible connection to Ukrainian intelligence services.
The teenager tried to ambush the deputy near his home, but Yanklovich was not present at the time. Law enforcement uncovered the suspect's plans in time and detained him. A criminal case has been initiated against the teenager under charges of attempted murder motivated by the victim's public activities.
Alexander Yanklovich spent a year in the "special military operation" zone in Ukraine, where he was awarded the medal "For Military Distinction." After completing his service, he returned to his duties in the regional parliament.
