UAE Offers Venue for Ukraine Peace Talks

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) have expressed their readiness to offer a venue for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine aimed at ending the armed conflict. According to sources familiar with the situation, the proposal was put forth by the United States and suggests the possibility of organizing a peace summit with the participation of Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, reports NewsBox.
The UAE's initiative aligns with statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump, prioritizing the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. Trump had earlier mentioned the possibility of meeting with Putin in Saudi Arabia to discuss this issue, writes Reuters.
According to five sources who wished to remain anonymous, the UAE is actively seeking to play a mediating role in establishing peace between Russia and Ukraine. Three of these sources, representing the U.S. and UAE, indicated that Emirati officials have offered Washington the opportunity to host a "peace summit" in the country. Two of them clarified that this summit could eventually include a meeting between Putin and Zelensky.
A source close to President Trump stated that the UAE is considered the leading candidate to host the first meeting between Trump and Putin. The Kremlin stated that no decision has been made yet.
The geopolitical position of the UAE, being a major oil producer and a strategic partner of the U.S. in the Middle East, makes them a unique mediator. The country maintains close ties with both Washington and Moscow and is also developing its relations with Kyiv.
