On Sri Lanka, two tourists tragically lost their lives, possibly due to pesticide poisoning after a bedbug treatment was conducted in their hostel, reports NewsBox.

Eboni Mackintosh, a 24-year-old digital marketing and social media manager from the UK, and Nadine Raguse, a 26-year-old from Germany, were staying at the Miracle Colombo City hostel in the capital of Sri Lanka.

According to the Sri Lankan police, both women felt unwell following a fumigation conducted in one of the hostel rooms to eliminate bedbugs. Eboni Mackintosh was hospitalized on Saturday, February 1, reports CNN.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that both women were poisoned by pesticides. An autopsy for Eboni Mackintosh will be conducted to determine the cause of death after the arrival of her family in Sri Lanka on February 10. The hostel is temporarily closed pending the investigation.

The UK Foreign Office is offering support to the deceased Briton's family and is in contact with the local authorities.

Eboni Mackintosh's family has set up a GoFundMe page to gather funds for their trip to Sri Lanka. The message on the page states that Eboni unexpectedly passed away thousands of miles from home and that her family is devastated by this tragedy.

Eboni had flown from London to Sri Lanka on January 28 to fulfill her dream of traveling through South Asia. She spent months planning the trip and was filled with anticipation.

It's reported that Eboni and several others were admitted to the hospital on Saturday with symptoms of vomiting and nausea. Eboni also had breathing difficulties and sadly passed away a few hours after arriving at the hospital.
