U.S. President Donald Trump is poised to sign an executive order to initiate the development of a new missile defense system to safeguard the country. This project will draw inspiration from Israel's "Iron Dome," which is used to intercept rockets and drones, reports NewsBox.

According to information obtained by CNN, the order envisions the creation of a "next-generation" missile shield capable of protecting the USA from ballistic, hypersonic, and advanced cruise missiles, as well as other aerial threats. The document refers to these potential attacks as a "catastrophic threat" to national security.

The emphasis is on the formation of space systems to track and neutralize threats in their launch stages.

"This missile shield will become a new level of defense for our nation, ensuring security against the most modern threats," states the accompanying notes to the order.

The executive order does not specify the timeframe for project implementation or its cost. However, it is known that the USA has already invested billions of dollars into Israel's Iron Dome system, and the American military has its own equivalents developed using Israeli technology.

The concept of creating an "impenetrable dome" akin to Israel's was with Trump during his campaign, emphasizing the need to protect Americans against any potential aerial attacks, including new-generation threats.

However, developing a system similar to the "Iron Dome" involves overcoming significant challenges. Even Israel, with its advanced systems and compact territory, experiences occasional breaches of its airspace.

This order could mark the beginning of a new technological race in missile defense, aimed at strengthening U.S. security. The realization of this project will attract global attention and establish new standards in military affairs.

It's still uncertain how quickly this ambitious idea can be turned into reality, but one thing is clear — security will be a key focus in the Trump administration's policy agenda.
