Trump misses the deadline to end the Ukraine war

U.S. President Donald Trump failed to deliver on his promise to resolve the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours, a commitment he repeatedly made during his election campaign. While these claims were always met with skepticism, the reality has proven even more complex: his special envoy for Ukraine has requested 100 days to find solutions, reports NewsBox.
During the inauguration, the war in Ukraine didn't receive significant attention. Even though Trump calls himself a 'peacemaker,' he hasn't clarified whether his administration will continue to support Kiev. Instead, he has focused on arranging a meeting with Vladimir Putin, stating that dialogue with the Russian leader is the key to resolving the conflict, writes CNN.
‘To understand how long the war will last, I need to talk with President Putin,’ Trump stated, adding that the U.S. has begun preparing for a phone conversation and then a personal meeting, with possible venues including Switzerland and Serbia.
This strategy sharply contrasts with the stance of his predecessor Joe Biden, who avoided direct dialogue with Putin to prevent strengthening his position. Trump, on the other hand, believes that personal negotiations are essential for achieving peace.
‘How can you find a way out of the situation if you don't talk?’ commented a source familiar with the president's thinking.
Nevertheless, achieving peace will likely require compromises from Ukraine. According to the new U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, peace demands concessions from both sides. However, the details remain unclear: Trump has not specified whether the supply of arms to Ukraine will continue or what security guarantees will be offered to Kiev.
