U.S. President Donald Trump held talks with Jordan's King Abdullah II at the White House. The meeting took place just one day after the American leader threatened to cut off support to Jordan if the country refused to accept Palestinian refugees as part of his plan for relocating people from the Gaza Strip, reports NewsBox.

King Abdullah II emphasized that his country has no intention of participating in the resettlement of Palestinians. However, Jordan is willing to accept about 2,000 children with cancer for treatment, according to BBC.

“I reaffirmed Jordan’s clear stance against the forced relocation of residents from Gaza and the West Bank. This is not only our position but also a unified stance of the Arab world. The main goal is the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing its people and addressing the region's humanitarian issues,” declared the Jordanian king on social media after the meeting.

Trump, for his part, described the talks as “excellent” and mentioned that he discussed the situation in Gaza with King Abdullah II.
