Trump stated that controlling Greenland is crucial for ensuring global security. In his opinion, Denmark's refusal, particularly from Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who previously firmly rejected the possibility of selling the island, reflects an unfriendly stance.

The topic of purchasing Greenland was first raised by Trump back in 2019 during his presidency. At that time, he called owning the island a "vital" step for protecting the free world. Now, Trump reiterated that the United States is the only country capable of guaranteeing stability and security for Greenland.
