Three-story Building Collapses in Turkey's Konya

On January 24th, a three-story building collapsed in the central district of Selçuklu in the city of Konya. The mayor of the metropolitan municipality of Konya, Uğur İbrahim Altay, reported that search and rescue teams, along with medical crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene, as reported by NewsBox.
Eyewitnesses to the collapse reported the incident occurring on Beyşehir Street in the Selçuklu district. Shortly after, numerous teams from AFAD (the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), ambulance services, and the police arrived at the site, according to Yeni Safak.
Preliminary data suggests that between three to four people could be trapped under the rubble, prompting rescuers to promptly begin a search and rescue operation.
The mayor of Konya, Uğur İbrahim Altay, provided additional details about the collapsed building:
The building housed 14 apartments;
It was not located in an urban redevelopment area;
The building was constructed in 1994.
As of now, two people have been successfully rescued from the debris.
AFAD representatives stated that after the building's collapse in the Selçuklu neighborhood of Konya Kılıçarslan, a total of 200 personnel from AFAD, firefighters, police officers, and 112 emergency medical teams along with municipal services were sent to the site. Additionally, extra rescue teams were summoned from regional AFAD offices in Ankara, Eskişehir, Afyonkarahisar, Isparta, Antalya, Niğde, Aksaray, Karaman, and Adana to assist with the operation.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate and save anyone who might still be trapped under the debris. The reasons for the building's collapse have not yet been determined.
