Teenage Girl Killed in Shark Attack at Popular Australian Beach

A tragedy occurred on the eastern coast of Australia, at Woorim Beach on Bribie Island in Queensland. A teenage girl was killed in a shark attack while swimming at this popular tourist spot, reports NewsBox.
Queensland police reported that on February 3rd around 5 PM local time, emergency services arrived at the scene following a report of a serious shark bite incident, as detailed by CNN.
"The girl was swimming when she was attacked by a shark... Unfortunately, she sustained injuries that were incompatible with life and died at the scene," said the official police statement.
Although the police have not officially disclosed the victim’s age, Australian media reports indicate that the girl was 17 years old.
Local resident Christopher Potter mentioned that Woorim Beach is a popular swimming area, especially during the day.
"It's shocking to have a shark attack occur so close to the shore, considering there are many sharks in the waters around Bribie Island," he noted.
