Details have emerged about the collision between an airplane and a military helicopter in the skies over Washington — the aircraft plunged into the river, with up to 60 people potentially on board, reports NewsBox.

A collision occurred above Reagan National Airport in Washington between a passenger plane and a military helicopter. As a result of the impact, the aircraft lost control and crashed into the Potomac River. Preliminary data suggest that up to 60 people might have been on board.

Local media speculate that it could have been American Airlines flight 5342, which was en route from Kansas to Washington. However, there has been no official confirmation of this information yet.
