Protests in Congo: U.S. Embassy on Fire, Activists Demand 'Death to Imperialists'

According to footage shared on social media, thick plumes of smoke were rising over the embassy. A large number of people gathered around the building, capturing the scene on their mobile phones. Embassy staff attempted to set up security and extinguish the flames, but the protesters continued to throw tires, intensifying the blaze.
For safety reasons, foreigners in the city have been advised to remain in their hotels. The incident occurred amid escalating tensions in the country.
In eastern Congo, 1,600 kilometers from the capital, the rebel group "March 23 Movement" (M23) announced the capture of an administrative center in North Kivu province. The group's declaration came after an ultimatum was issued to the Congolese military to lay down their arms.
