Polish military officials reported a brief incursion of the country's airspace by a Russian Su-24MR military aircraft over the Baltic Sea. The incident occurred over Polish territorial waters, as reported by NewsBox.

According to a statement from Poland's Operational Command, the Russian aircraft took off from Kaliningrad Oblast and stayed in Polish airspace for 1 minute and 12 seconds, covering a distance of about 6.5 km during this time, as reported by BBC.

"The Polish airspace control services established contact with the Russian side, which confirmed the airspace violation," the Command's statement reads.

The Polish military stated that the Russian side explained the incident as a navigational system error of the aircraft.

This incident occurred against the backdrop of heightened regional tensions due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Previously, on February 11, it was reported that Poland had scrambled its aircraft during a Russian missile attack on Ukrainian cities.
