Pentagon Confirms Ban on Transgender Individuals Joining the Military

The U.S. Army has barred transgender individuals from enlisting and has ceased support for gender transition procedures. This decision follows an executive order signed by Donald Trump on January 27, reports NewsBox.

The U.S. Armed Forces will no longer accept transgender individuals for service and will halt assistance for gender transition procedures. The new policy was officially announced following the signing of the relevant executive order by Donald Trump on January 27.

The document required the Pentagon to determine a position on the involvement of transgender individuals in the military within a month. The order stated that a mismatch between one's biological sex and gender identity conflicts with the principles of military service, which are based on integrity, discipline, and honesty. As such, individuals not meeting these standards cannot be allowed into the Armed Forces.

The ban applies to new recruits and terminates programs that provide medical support to service members undergoing gender transition.
