Nashville School Shooting: One Dead, Two Injured

A tragic event unfolded in Nashville: a shooting at Antioch High School resulted in one fatality and two injuries, reports NewsBox.
The incident took place on January 22 in an area located roughly 10 miles southeast of downtown Nashville. According to Jon Hauser, a representative from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, one person died at the scene, while two others were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
According to police spokesperson April Weatherly, it's assumed that the shooter fired at two students before turning the gun on themselves. It has not been clarified whether the shooter was a student at the school, states The Associated Press.
The school, which has around 2,000 students, responded swiftly to the situation. Parents were advised not to come for their children to avoid chaos and additional risks. Instead, students will be transported by bus to a nearby hospital, where parents can pick them up.
The investigation is being conducted by the Nashville Metro Police Department. As reported by spokesperson Elizabeth Clement-Webb, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is not involved in the investigation as of now.
This incident adds to the troubling pattern of school-related violence. In March 2023, another shooting in Nashville took place at The Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school, where a gunman killed six people, including three nine-year-old children. These events raise concerns about school safety and the call for stricter gun control measures.
