Musk's Department Barred from Handling Trillion-Dollar Transactions in the U.S.

A court has temporarily restricted Elon Musk's Department of Governmental Efficiency from accessing the system for processing government payments, citing risks of exposing confidential data, reports NewsBox.

A U.S. federal court decided to temporarily block access for the Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, to the government payment processing system. According to Reuters, the court found that this could threaten the protection of confidential information, as the system handles transactions worth trillions of dollars.

This decision responded to a lawsuit filed by attorneys general from 19 U.S. states. The document claims that DOGE lacks the necessary authority to work with such a system. The plaintiffs also express concern that Musk's department might influence the allocation of federal funds, affecting financing for medical facilities, preschool programs, and climate change initiatives.

Elon Musk himself criticized the verdict, calling it "insane." He emphasized that DOGE had previously reached an agreement with the Treasury Department requiring all government payments to be supported by written justification and categorization codes.
