Mass Layoffs: Trump Shuts Down Almost Entire USAID Workforce

The Trump administration has announced a substantial reduction in the workforce of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Of the 10,000 global employees, only 294 will remain, with the agency effectively being placed under the control of the U.S. State Department, reports NewsBox.
The U.S. authorities have started a significant downsizing of USAID's staff. According to Reuters, the reduction will be over 30-fold, decreasing from 10,000 employees to just 294 worldwide.
The most significant changes will affect regional offices: in Africa, the staff will be reduced to just 12 people, and in Asia, only eight. Some employees have already begun receiving layoff notices, sources indicate.
Furthermore, an announcement on USAID's official website stated that nearly the entire agency staff will be placed on administrative leave on Friday. All international aid programs have been suspended, with the organization now under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State.
These changes effectively signal the winding down of U.S. global humanitarian initiatives and could seriously impact Washington's foreign policy.
