Man confesses to killing daughter over TikTok content in Pakistan

In Quetta, Pakistan, a man has confessed to the murder of his teenage daughter, driven by his discontent with her TikTok content. According to Pakistani police, the family had recently returned from the United States and held conservative beliefs, reports NewsBox.
Anwar-ul-Haq, the father of the 15-year-old girl, initially claimed that his daughter was shot by unknown assailants. However, he later admitted to the crime. Police official Babar Bloch stated during the investigation it became clear that the family was dissatisfied with the girl's lifestyle, clothing, and public activities, writes CNN.
Police investigator Zohaib Mohsin noted that authorities are examining all circumstances, including potential "honor killing" motives. The girl's phone, which had been locked, is also part of the investigation.
According to police, the girl's father is a U.S. citizen. He explained his actions by saying that his daughter was posting "inappropriate" content on TikTok both in America and after their return to Pakistan.
Police have also arrested the son-in-law of the main suspect in connection with the murder. Haq has been charged with murder. The police refused to provide additional proof of the suspect's citizenship beyond his own statement and did not confirm whether the U.S. embassy had been informed of the incident.
"Honor killings" are a serious issue in Pakistan. According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, more than 1,000 women fall victim to such crimes annually due to alleged violations of conservative values. These violations can include running away from home, posting content on social media, interacting with men, and other actions deemed unacceptable in conservative circles.
