Former Fox News Host Takes Helm at the Pentagon

The US Senate confirmed Pete Hegseth, a former Fox News host, as the head of the Pentagon, marking a significant victory for Donald Trump amidst escalating criticism, reports NewsBox.
Pete Hegseth, the ex-host of Fox News and a military veteran, was approved by the Senate for the position of US Secretary of Defense with a narrow margin of votes. This decision represented a major success for President Donald Trump, despite opposition from Democrats and even some Republicans, according to Reuters.
Hegseth promises to implement radical reforms in the Pentagon, yet his appointment raises serious concerns. Critics point to his lack of experience managing large-scale operations and question his professional qualifications.
Traditionally, the role of Pentagon chief has been held by individuals with extensive experience in large organizations and support from both parties. This time, the confirmation required additional efforts, as three Republican senators, including Mitch McConnell, voted against. McConnell emphasized that merely wanting "to be an agent of change" is insufficient for managing an organization with a $1 trillion budget.
Hegseth himself stated that he once led a team of 100 people and managed a budget of $16 million. His appointment has been surrounded by controversies, including accusations from a former fiancée of abuse towards his second wife. Hegseth has categorically denied these allegations, and his spouse has affirmed that physical abuse never occurred.
