Facebook and Instagram to pay Trump $25 million

Meta to pay Donald Trump $25 million in a lawsuit over blocking his Facebook and Instagram accounts, reports NewsBox.

The tech giant Meta agreed to pay former US President Donald Trump $25 million as part of a legal settlement related to the blocking of his social media pages.

In 2021, Trump filed a lawsuit against the company, claiming that he was unlawfully subjected to censorship. It should be noted that his accounts on Facebook and Instagram were blocked following the events of January 6, when protestors stormed the Capitol building in Washington.

Earlier this year, Meta's CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged that the platform's policies on content moderation need to be reviewed. He announced that the platform will no longer use fact-checkers, replacing them with a 'community notes' system.
