Elon Musk Criticizes Trump's $500 Billion AI Project

Following President Donald Trump's announcement of a new $500 billion artificial intelligence infrastructure project, Elon Musk criticized the initiative, claiming that its backers lack sufficient funds, according to NewsBox.
"They don't actually have the money. SoftBank provided less than $10 billion. I have reliable information on this," Musk posted on his platform X.
Trump stated that the new project, named Stargate, aims to develop AI infrastructure in the United States. According to the president, SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle have committed $100 billion for its launch, with investments potentially reaching $500 billion in the coming years, reports CNN.
Elon Musk, despite his close ties with the Trump administration, publicly questioned the feasibility of such investments. His statement sparked intense discussions, especially given Musk's active role in technological and political spheres.
It’s unsurprising that Musk criticizes the initiative involving OpenAI. He has been in a legal dispute with the organization and its CEO, Sam Altman, accusing the company of straying from its original nonprofit mission. Musk claims that OpenAI reserved advanced technologies for private clients, breaking its promises.
Sam Altman responded to Musk's accusations, writing, "That's not true, as you surely know. Want to visit the first facility, which is already under construction? This is great for the country. I understand that what's good for the country isn't always optimal for your companies, but I hope in your new role you'll prioritize America."
Sources close to the Stargate project refuted Musk's claims. They indicated that:
SoftBank has $24.3 billion in cash and is ready to incur additional debt;
MGX possesses $100 billion in capital commitments;
Oracle holds $11 billion in cash reserves;
OpenAI recently raised over $10 billion from venture investors.
