China Responds to U.S. Tariffs: Imposes 15% Duties on American Coal and Gas

China has announced the imposition of retaliatory tariffs of 15% on American coal and liquefied natural gas, as well as 10% on agricultural equipment, cars, and oil. This move comes in response to the latest U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods, reports NewsBox.
China is implementing new tariffs on American products in response to U.S. trade restrictions. According to a statement from the Chinese government, coal and liquefied natural gas from the United States will now incur a 15% tariff, while agricultural machinery, automobiles, and oil will face a 10% tariff.
These measures were introduced following Washington's imposition of a 10% tariff on Chinese goods starting February 3. In reaction to this trade escalation, President Donald Trump planned to hold talks with China's President Xi Jinping to discuss future steps.
Meanwhile, the U.S. has postponed similar tariff measures for Canada and Mexico, reaching preliminary agreements with their leaders. However, negotiations with Beijing are expected to be tense.
