A Conflict with the International Court? The U.S. Imposes Sanctions on Its Head

The United States has imposed sanctions on the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan. According to media reports, this move is linked to the ICC’s decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, reports NewsBox.

The United States announced the imposition of sanctions against Karim Asad Ahmad Khan, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC). This decision was made under President Donald Trump’s executive order dated February 6th, and on February 13th, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) updated the sanctions list.

The official reasons for the sanctions have not yet been disclosed. However, according to the text of the order, this decision was in response to actions by the ICC, which previously issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant. They are accused of war crimes committed in Gaza.

Washington has previously criticized the International Criminal Court for its decisions regarding U.S. allies. Now, the American authorities have employed economic and legal measures against the head of the ICC, which could deepen the rift between the U.S. and international judicial structures.
