1,500 prisoners in exchange for 33 hostages: details of Israel's agreement with Hamas

The Israeli government has approved an agreement with Hamas regarding the cessation of hostilities and the exchange of hostages: 24 ministers voted in favor, while 8 opposed it, according to Israeli media. This was reported by NewsBox.

The Israeli government confirmed the agreement with Hamas concerning the cessation of hostilities and the exchange of hostages. During the voting, 24 ministers supported the deal, while 8 expressed opposition. The discussion lasted for more than seven hours.

Previously, the deal received approval from the military-political cabinet, although there were two ministers who opposed it: the head of national security Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

In the first phase of realizing the agreement, Hamas is required to release 33 Israeli hostages, while Israel is set to release more than 1,500 Palestinian prisoners from its jails. The first group of hostages could be released as early as January 19.
