Will the authorities take over Domodedovo? A multi-billion lawsuit is underway

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has filed a lawsuit for the transfer of Domodedovo Airport into state ownership. The oversight body demands the nationalization of 100% of the shares of the managing company DME Holding, citing unlawful control over this strategic asset by "foreign residents," reports NewsBox.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has initiated legal proceedings, seeking to bring Domodedovo Airport under state control. The lawsuit, submitted to the Arbitration Court of the Moscow Region, discusses the nationalization of 100% of shares of LLC "DME Holding," the operator of the capital's largest air hub.

The suit targets 32 legal entities, as well as the airport's owner Dmitry Kamenshchik and the chairman of the supervisory board Valery Kogan. According to "Vedomosti," the Prosecutor General's Office asserts that control over this strategic object illegally transferred to foreign residents—Kamenshchik having connections with Turkey and the UAE, and Kogan holding Israeli citizenship.

The oversight body believes that managing such an asset is permissible only after obtaining approval from a government commission. However, according to the prosecutor's office, the airport owners did not receive the appropriate authorization.

The issue of nationalizing Domodedovo Airport emerged back in 2011 following a major terrorist attack. In 2015, a criminal case was initiated against Dmitry Kamenshchik, accusing him of providing services that did not meet security requirements, leading to loss of life. Later, the criminal prosecution was discontinued.
