Were negotiations in Riyadh not only about Ukraine? An Arctic expert was among the Russian delegates

An Arctic expert was part of the Russian delegation in talks with the USA in Riyadh, which caught the attention of analysts. Vladimir Proskuryakov, counselor of the Russian embassy in Canada, who specializes in Arctic cooperation, was spotted in a video released by the Russian Foreign Ministry, reports NewsBox.
During the Russia-US talks in Riyadh, Vladimir Proskuryakov, a minister-counselor at the Russian embassy in Canada dealing with Arctic affairs, was present. This was noted by journalists from the 'System' project, who pointed out a video published by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Proskuryakov previously participated in a conference at St. Petersburg State University on Russian-Canadian cooperation in the Arctic, which might suggest Moscow's interest in Arctic negotiations.
Additionally, the deputy director of the Department of European Cooperation at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Dmitry Balakin, was also noticed at the meeting.
Further interest in Arctic affairs is evidenced by a statement from the general director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, who announced that Moscow has proposed a series of investment and economic projects to Washington, including joint initiatives in the Arctic.
"We also need to undertake joint projects, including, for example, in the Arctic and other areas, as joint projects can enhance our success," said Dmitriev, commenting on the talks in Riyadh.
