According to Oleg Kiper, head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, the historic center of Odessa was targeted by missile strikes launched by Russian forces, reports NewsBox.

Kiper noted that the threat of further attacks persists, but he did not provide details regarding the aftermath of the shelling.

Local authorities indicated that the attack on Odessa resulted in injuries to a staff member of the "Bristol" hotel.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian forces carried out strikes on Odessa using ballistic missiles, deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure.

"Currently, operations are ongoing in the southern part of our country, in Odessa, following the Russian missile strikes. Preliminary reports suggest the use of ballistic missiles. These were direct attacks on the city, on ordinary civilian structures. Again and again: Air defense is the top priority, and we are working with all partners to provide more protection for our nation," emphasized the President.

Russian military officials have yet to comment on the information regarding the shelling of Odessa.
