Ukraine Seizes Deripaska's Company Assets Worth 2.11 Billion Hryvnias

In Ukraine, assets belonging to the Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska have been seized. The court ordered the freezing of raw materials worth over 2.11 billion hryvnias, which were stored at the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant, reports NewsBox.

The Ukrainian court has decided to seize the assets of a Swiss company owned by Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska. The total value of the seized property exceeds 2.11 billion hryvnias (approximately 50 million dollars).

The matter concerns a batch of raw materials, including about 500,000 tons of bauxite and alumina. These materials were produced before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and were stored at the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the Swiss company controlled by Deripaska ordered these materials for subsequent export to the entrepreneur's Russian enterprises. However, Ukrainian law enforcement authorities detected and blocked the transaction at the beginning of 2023, preventing the shipment of raw materials to Russia.

Oleg Deripaska has been under U.S. sanctions since 2018. Following the start of the war against Ukraine, he also faced restrictions from the European Union, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and other countries.
