"The West Deceived Us Again": Putin on the Withdrawal of Troops from Kyiv

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that in 2022 he decided to withdraw Russian troops from the outskirts of Kyiv, relying on assurances from Western leaders who, according to him, once again deceived Moscow, reports NewsBox.

Vladimir Putin spoke about his decision to pull back troops from the Kyiv area in the spring of 2022. According to him, this move was made following proposals from Western leaders, who, during negotiations in Istanbul, insisted that Ukraine would not be able to sign a peace agreement under military threat.

The president acknowledged that he had doubts about the sincerity of these assurances, as Russia, he claims, had faced deception from the West for decades. Nevertheless, Moscow agreed to withdraw the troops to avoid further bloodshed. Putin stated that the withdrawal of troops began at the end of March 2022.

He asserted that after this, Russia was ready to continue working on peace agreements. However, according to the president, under the influence of the West, Ukraine refused to continue negotiations and chose to persist with the conflict.
