The G7 will not accept Russia under Putin - statement from Germany's Foreign Minister

Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has dismissed Donald Trump's proposal to reinstate Russia into the G7. She stated that normal cooperation with Vladimir Putin's Russia is impossible as long as the country continues its aggressive policies, according to NewsBox.

The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, remarked that Russia should not rejoin the 'Group of Seven' (G7), which comprises the world's leading economies. She made this statement at the Munich Security Conference, in response to the suggestion from former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Baerbock emphasized that over the last three years of the war in Ukraine, G7 countries have repeatedly stressed that collaboration with Russia in its current state is impossible. She reminded that Moscow was expelled from the G8 format following the annexation of Crimea in 2014, and eight years later, the Kremlin initiated full-scale military actions against Ukraine.

According to the German Foreign Minister, attempts to achieve an artificial peace without real changes could lead to further Russian aggression and pose a threat to security across Europe. In her view, Russia's reintegration into the G7 would only be conceivable if the country abandons its confrontational policies and moves towards peaceful cooperation.
