The Rostelecom communications submarine cable has been damaged in the Gulf of Finland. According to the company's information, the cause was external impact, reports NewsBox.

In the Baltic Sea, a submarine cable belonging to Rostelecom was damaged. The company reported that the cause was an external factor, but the details of the incident haven't been disclosed yet.

Previously, Finnish media reported the severance of two Russian submarine cables connecting Saint Petersburg and Kaliningrad. According to Yle, the damage occurred in Finland's exclusive economic zone.

The "Baltika" cable, owned by Rostelecom, officially went out of operation on December 27, with Russia notifying Finland of this. However, restoration work only began on February 8. Specialists are already working on repairs, but the timeline for full restoration remains unclear.
