Shake-ups in the Russian Ministry of Defense: Head of a Military Construction Directorate Detained

Astemir Abaev, head of Russia's Ministry of Defense Military Construction Directorate No. 4, has been detained in Moscow. The detention is linked to allegations connected to activities of the directorate in Dagestan, reports NewsBox.
A 42-year-old leader of Military Construction Directorate No. 4 (GVSU No. 4) of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Astemir Abaev, was detained in Moscow. This information comes from sources close to the official.
According to preliminary information, the detention is connected to the directorate's operations in Dagestan, where GVSU No. 4 serves as the general contractor for more than 70 construction projects. These include educational institutions whose construction was entrusted to military builders by the Supreme Commander.
Previously, Abaev stated that 16 projects in the republic had already been put into operation, and by the end of the year, it is planned to complete 13 more educational institutions designed for 17,450 students. He also thanked the Dagestani authorities for their cooperation and assured the timely execution of all projects.
Astemir Abaev assumed leadership of GVSU No. 4 several years ago, taking over from Magomed Chamaev, who was subsequently transferred to Moscow and appointed as deputy head of SU No. 415 'GVSU-4'.
