Sanctions Against Russia: Record Economic Pressure in 2024
Sanctions are increasingly impacting Russian businesses: 70% of top managers reported that their companies have suffered from restrictions, according to a survey conducted by RAN in November 2024, relayed by NewsBox.
Sanction-related restrictions continue to exert pressure on the Russian economy, despite President Vladimir Putin's claims regarding their role in promoting industrial development. According to data from a survey by the Institute for National Economic Forecasting RAN, conducted in November 2024, nearly 70% of executives from major Russian enterprises stated that their businesses had been adversely affected by sanctions.
This is the highest level of reported impact since the onset of the conflict. For comparison, in spring 2022, 59.2% of companies reported difficulties, and by the end of that same year, this percentage had increased to 66.2%. In Spring 2023, there was a slight decrease to 60.6%, but heading into 2024, the numbers began to rise again: 65.2% in spring and a record high of 69.3% in autumn.
Notably, none of the surveyed top managers indicated any positive impact of sanctions on their companies' activities.
