Russians rush to buy Sony and Xbox consoles over potential EU ban

In Russia, demand for Sony PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles has surged following statements by the EU's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, about a potential ban on their imports from the EU. Sales of these consoles have nearly doubled, reports NewsBox.

After the announcements about possible restrictions on the import of Sony PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles to Russia, demand for them has skyrocketed. According to Moneyplace data, from January 28 to February 5, more than 2,700 consoles were sold daily, which is nearly twice the figure for the same period last year, when daily sales ranged from 1,000 to 1,500 units.

Discussion about the potential ban on the import of gaming consoles from Europe began after comments by the EU's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas. She claimed that consoles could be used to operate drones, which has prompted consideration of including them in the sanctions list.

It's worth noting that China currently remains the largest supplier of these devices to Russia.
