Russian Foreign Ministry Responds to Zelensky's Statement on Kursk Region Exchange

The Russian Foreign Ministry responded sharply to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky's comments about a potential exchange involving part of the Kursk region for occupied Ukrainian territories, reports NewsBox.

Official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, commented on Zelensky's statement regarding the exchange of part of the Kursk region for the Ukrainian territories under occupation. She noted that the Ukrainian soldiers operating in the region "will meet their end without any exchange," hinting at their potential destruction.

Zakharova stated that the neo-Nazis active in the Kursk region will be swallowed by the ground without any exchange, in plots roughly measuring a meter by two in area and about one and a half to two meters deep.

According to her, Zelensky makes such statements to conceal the "catastrophic" situation of the Ukrainian army in that direction.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine announced that during potential peace negotiations, he is prepared to propose exchanging part of the Kursk region, controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, for Ukrainian territories currently under Russian control.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces occupied part of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. In mid-January, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian army had liberated 801 square kilometers, which accounted for 63.2% of the territory previously seized by Ukrainian forces. However, battles for complete control over the region continue.
