Russian Faces Death Penalty in Thailand for Son's Murder

A Russian citizen, Artyom B., faces the death penalty in Thailand for the murder of his own son, whom he threw overboard from a tour boat, reports NewsBox.

During a tour around the Surin Islands in Thailand, 45-year-old Artyom B., who is Russian, allegedly threw his 13-year-old son, Lukas, overboard. According to eyewitnesses and local media, the man suddenly grabbed the teenager by the legs and tossed him into the water. Although the boat stopped and the captain, along with passengers, pulled the boy back onboard, the propeller had already caused fatal injuries. The injured youth was rushed to the hospital, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful.

According to acquaintances of the family, Artyom was in a relationship with a local woman, and the deceased son was a Thai citizen. Some witnesses claim that the man did not intend to kill his son, thinking it was a joke, expecting the boy would swim to the shore on his own.

However, investigators have charged the Russian with premeditated murder. The maximum penalty for this crime in Thailand is either the death sentence or life imprisonment.

The motives behind the incident are currently being investigated.
