Russia Hosts Hamas Delegation: Key Discussion Topics

A delegation from Hamas has arrived in Moscow at the invitation of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They intend to discuss the conditions for a ceasefire with Israel and the potential release of hostages, which includes Russian citizens, reports NewsBox.

A delegation from the Palestinian group Hamas has arrived in Moscow. The visit was organized following an official invitation from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated Mousa Abu Marzouk, deputy head of Hamas' political bureau.

The main topic of the discussions will be the potential ceasefire with Israel and the release of hostages captured during the Hamas offensive on October 7, 2023. Among those held in the Gaza Strip are Russian citizen Alexander Trufanov and Donbas native Maksim Kharkin.

According to Marzouk, Trufanov will be released soon, despite his military status. This move, as clarified by a Hamas representative, is a "reciprocal gesture" in response to Russia's stance on the Palestinian issue.

Furthermore, the Palestinian side is hoping for Moscow's support in the restoration of the Gaza Strip following the conflict.
