Putin: The Ukraine conflict might not have happened under Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested that the military conflict in Ukraine in 2022 might not have occurred if Donald Trump had remained the U.S. president. Putin also expressed his readiness for a personal meeting with him, reports NewsBox.
In an interview with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin, Putin claimed that events in Ukraine could have unfolded differently in 2022 if Trump had stayed in office. According to Putin, he shares Trump's view that under a Republican administration, the crisis in Ukraine possibly might not have arisen.
Putin described Trump as a pragmatic individual who tends to avoid decisions that could harm the U.S. economy. He also showed willingness to meet with Republicans to discuss pressing issues that concern both countries. Putin pointed out that the initiative to restore dialogue depends on the current U.S. administration, which, in his opinion, ceased communication with Russia following Joe Biden's rise to power.
Putin characterized his relationship with Trump as businesslike and trustworthy, despite the implementation of numerous sanctions against Russia during Trump's presidency. He noted that Biden has merely intensified the sanctions policy.
Previously, Trump had repeatedly claimed that he could resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 24 hours but admitted after taking office that the process would take longer. During his election campaign, he warned that while he does not wish to harm Russia, he would have to impose sanctions if the parties do not reach an agreement.
In Trump's view, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should have made a deal to avoid military actions.
