Pharmacy Chain “Aprel” Engages in Mass Layoffs

The major pharmacy chain "Aprel" is conducting widespread layoffs of night staff across Russia. Employees have been encouraged to resign voluntarily as the pharmacies gradually transition to daytime-only operations, reports NewsBox.

The prominent Russian pharmacy network "Aprel" has initiated large-scale layoffs of night personnel. The company manages 8,500 locations across 77 regions of the country. Employees from Tver, Krasnodar, and Saint Petersburg reported that management informed them of the cancellation of night shifts starting February 1, urging them to submit resignation letters.

Workers claim they were forced to leave without any severance pay, except for unused vacation compensation.

They were explicitly told: don't even think about filing any complaints, no one will help you. It's been decided to cut costs for everyone. Nobody got paid anything, apart from for unused leave, said the affected staff.

The company plans to discontinue around-the-clock operations and has offered those unwilling to resign a chance to switch to day shifts or work in other city districts. Official representatives from "Aprel" have not commented on the situation.
