Organizers of Brutal Torture Released from Irkutsk Detention Center

Organizers of torture and abuse in the Irkutsk detention center have been released following a reduction in their sentences, reports NewsBox.
A court in the Irkutsk region reduced the sentences of five employees of Angarsk Penal Colony No. 15, who were convicted in 2023 for torturing a prisoner. They were initially given prison terms of four to five years; however, on January 27, the court decreased their sentences to two years in a settlement colony. Considering the time already served in pre-trial detention, they were released.
The victim of the torture was Kezhik Ondar, a resident of Tuva, convicted in 2019 for horse theft. According to him, in Detention Center-1, he was hung upside down, beaten, subjected to electric shocks, and abused with a kettle connected to the electrical grid. This resulted in the kettle exploding in Ondar's intestine, causing serious injuries.
Five prisoners who participated in the torture received sentences ranging from 10 to 11 years in prison. However, they later claimed that they acted on the orders of the operatives who orchestrated the torture.
