Norwegian authorities have released the Russian vessel Silver Dania, previously detained on suspicion of involvement in the damage to an underwater cable between Latvia and the Swedish island of Gotland. The investigation found no evidence linking it to the incident, reports NewsBox.

The ship, traveling from Saint Petersburg to Murmansk, was halted by the Norwegian coast guard on the night of January 31 and escorted to the port of Tromsø. However, after investigation, the police concluded that the vessel is not connected to the cable break on the floor of the Baltic Sea, according to BBC.

"No signs linking the vessel to this incident were found. The investigation will continue, but there is no basis for further detention of the ship in Tromsø," stated police prosecutor Ronny Jørgensen, as reported by AFP.

Following this, Silver Dania was granted permission to leave the port.
