National Guard Major General Arrested on Bribery Charges

The Moscow Garrison Military Court has taken Major General Konstantin Ryabykh of the National Guard into custody, accusing him of accepting a particularly large bribe, reports NewsBox.

The high-ranking officer, who previously headed one of the departments in the agency, was arrested at the request of the Main Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to information provided by TASS and "Kommersant" citing sources within law enforcement, Major General Ryabykh is charged under part 6 of article 290 of the Russian Federation's Criminal Code. TASS reports that the bribe amounted to 15 million rubles. The agency also reports that Ryabykh was dismissed from service. "Kommersant" specifies that the arrest took place on February 14.

The press service of the National Guard confirmed the detention to the publication, emphasizing that it was the result of anti-corruption efforts conducted within the agency. Details of the criminal case against Konstantin Ryabykh are not being disclosed at this time.
