Moscow Students Automatically Registered for Military Service

In Moscow, 17-year-olds are now being automatically registered for military service, with notifications sent through the mos.ru portal, reports NewsBox.
Starting in 2025, Moscow has implemented an automatic system for registering 17-year-old teens for military service. The capital's military commissioner, Maxim Loktev, stated that notifications are sent via SMS and the personal account on the mos.ru portal, and are also directed to parents.
According to Loktev, from January 1 to March 31, all young men born in 2008 will receive messages about their registration for military service. This system eliminates the need for visiting a draft office for registration. Additionally, the certificate confirming the individual's military service obligation will be available electronically through the personal account. This document is necessary when enrolling in educational institutions or seeking employment.
The commissioner clarified that these notifications are not related to immediate conscription or any changes in deferments or fitness categories. Once they turn 18, young men will be called to the Unified Draft Center for data verification, deferment rights consideration, and any necessary procedures.
